Proxies for eBay listing and price research
Compare sold prices, watch competitors, and pull listing data from an IP that isn't your home connection. Here's where datacenter proxies fit for eBay research, and where they don't.
What an eBay proxy is good for
Light, human-paced research from an IP that isn't tied to your everyday browsing.
Clean-IP price research
Check sold-listing prices and search results without your own IP or prior activity shaping what you see.
Competitor monitoring
Keep an eye on a rival seller's live listings, price moves, and stock from a neutral vantage point.
Sticky sessions
Hold one exit IP for a whole research session so pages, search state, and results stay consistent.
Dedicated personal IP
Add a static IP that's yours alone, associated with your s4m account, for repeatable clean-IP research.
Pay as you go
Metered SOCKS5/HTTP proxies. Spin up for a research sprint, stop when you're done, no flat commitment.
No-logs by design
RAM-first infrastructure. We don't keep a record of the destinations you reach through the proxy.
Session vs rotation, and doing it honestly
Most eBay research is light and human-paced: you're checking a few sold prices, comparing a handful of listings, or watching one or two competitors. For that, a sticky session — one exit IP held for the length of your work — is almost always the right call. Pages render consistently, search and cart state behave, and nothing looks like a burst of machine traffic.
Rotation earns its place only when you're pulling many pages and want each request to leave from a different address. It spreads load, but it also looks less like a person, and on a consumer marketplace that tends to attract friction rather than avoid it.
| Aspect | Sticky session | Rotating pool |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Focused research on one or a few sellers | High-volume pulls across many items |
| IP behavior | One exit IP held throughout | New IP per request or interval |
| Looks like | A returning human visitor | Distributed automated traffic |
| eBay friction | Lower for light use | Higher; more likely to trip checks |
| Pair with | A dedicated personal IP | A metered proxy pool |
Be honest about datacenter IPs. Our proxies are datacenter, not residential. They're fast and stable, but a large consumer site like eBay can flag datacenter ranges more readily than home connections. Keep volume low, pace requests like a person, and don't expect a datacenter pool to sail through aggressive anti-bot checks.
Respect the rules. eBay's User Agreement and its robots.txt restrict automated collection, and mass-scraping can get an account or IP restricted. Use proxies for privacy and clean manual research — not to evade bans or break a site's terms. For reliable programmatic data, eBay's official Browse and Finding APIs are the sanctioned route. Weigh the options on our compare page or read the guides; if you just want private everyday browsing, our WireGuard VPN may fit better.
Point your tools at the proxy
Authenticated datacenter proxies: SOCKS5 on 1080, HTTP on 3128. Swap USER:PASS for your credentials and pace requests like a human.
# SOCKS5 (port 1080) — resolve DNS through the proxy with socks5h curl -x socks5h://USER:[email protected]:1080 \ -A "Mozilla/5.0" \ "https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=vintage+camera&LH_Sold=1" # HTTP proxy (port 3128) — a single item page curl -x http://USER:[email protected]:3128 \ "https://www.ebay.com/itm/123456789012" # Hold ONE exit IP for a whole research session (sticky) export HTTPS_PROXY="http://USER:[email protected]:3128" export HTTP_PROXY="$HTTPS_PROXY" # Confirm the IP eBay will actually see curl -x socks5h://USER:[email protected]:1080 https://api.ipify.org # Be a good citizen: throttle, and honor robots.txt # sleep between requests; don't hammer search or seller pages
Questions, answered
Can I use these proxies to scrape eBay at scale?
We don't recommend it. Datacenter proxies aren't built to defeat eBay's anti-bot systems, and mass scraping likely violates eBay's User Agreement and robots.txt, which can get an account or IP restricted. For programmatic data, use eBay's official Browse and Finding APIs. Use our proxies for privacy and light, human-paced manual research.
Are these residential proxies?
No. We offer authenticated datacenter SOCKS5 and HTTP proxies only. They're fast and cost-effective, but consumer sites like eBay can detect datacenter ranges more easily than home connections. We don't offer or claim residential proxies.
Should I use a sticky session or rotation for eBay?
For most research, use a sticky session — one exit IP held for the whole task, which behaves like a returning visitor. Rotation only makes sense for higher-volume page pulls, and it looks less human on a consumer marketplace, so it can trip checks sooner.
What does a dedicated personal IP add?
It's a static IP that's yours alone, associated with your s4m account, that you can bind to your proxy (or VPN). Your research then runs from a consistent, clean address instead of a shared pool. It's an add-on you can order from the pricing page.
Do you keep logs of my eBay sessions?
No-logs by design, on RAM-first infrastructure. We don't retain a record of the destinations you reach through the proxy. Check current plan terms and account options on the pricing page.
