CAPTCHA

A CAPTCHA is a challenge-response test designed to tell humans from automated clients, shown when a site suspects a request is not from a person.

In plain terms

A CAPTCHA is a test that is easy for a human but meant to be hard for a machine — distorted text, image grids or invisible behavioural scoring. Sites present them to slow down bots, credential-stuffing and scraping. Modern versions rarely show a puzzle at all; they score signals in the background and only challenge when suspicion is high. Those signals overlap with what drives your fraud score: a datacenter ASN, poor IP reputation, a mismatched TLS fingerprint or robotic timing.

Practical notes

Check GeoIP, the TLS handshake and the declared User-Agent when diagnosing challenges, but matching signals does not guarantee acceptance. A dedicated IP can have prior history and still receive CAPTCHAs. Respect rate limits, site rules and permitted access methods. For authorized automation, prefer an official API where available rather than attempting to defeat a challenge.

Why it matters

The right posture is to reduce the signals that trigger challenges rather than to defeat them. Use an exit with a clean reputation, align your GeoIP, timezone and language, present a browser-like handshake, and pace requests like a person. A well-behaved s4m dedicated IP draws fewer challenges than an abused shared address. When a site clearly does not want automation, the honest response is to slow down or use its API, not to fight the test.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Why do I keep getting CAPTCHAs through a proxy?

Usually because the exit IP looks risky: a datacenter ASN, low reputation, or a mismatch between your IP location and your browser's timezone and language. A cleaner, consistent profile and a well-behaved dedicated IP typically reduce how often challenges appear.
