HTTP Proxy
An HTTP proxy is a server that understands the HTTP protocol and relays web requests between a client and web servers on its behalf.
What it is
An HTTP proxy operates at the application layer and understands HTTP, so it can read, cache and filter web requests. A browser or tool sends its request to the proxy, which forwards it to the target site and returns the response. Because it speaks HTTP natively, it can add or strip headers — which is what determines its anonymity level. For encrypted sites it switches to a blind tunnel using the CONNECT method, relaying the TLS session without decrypting it.
How it works
For plain HTTP the proxy sees the full request and can modify headers such as X-Forwarded-For. For HTTPS it issues CONNECT, opens a tunnel to the destination and passes encrypted bytes through untouched, so it cannot read the contents. The site sees the proxy's exit IP. Unlike a SOCKS5 proxy it is limited to web traffic, but for scraping and browsing that is usually all you need.
How it relates to s4m
Authenticated SOCKS5 (1080) and HTTP (3128) use the configured endpoint. Proxy credentials remain required when you choose another available exit. s4m has selectable public exit configurations. Use the endpoint or profile issued for the protocol and location selected in your account. An exit IP can have a prior history. Accounts, cookies and browser signals may still identify a user; changing an address does not guarantee a clean reputation. Documented default endpoint example: proxy.s4m.online:3128. Questions, answered
Can an HTTP proxy handle HTTPS websites?
Yes. It uses the CONNECT method to open a raw tunnel to the site and relays the encrypted TLS session without reading it. The proxy sees only the destination host and port, so your HTTPS confidentiality stays intact end-to-end.
