Anonymous Proxy

An anonymous proxy hides your real IP address from the destination but may still signal that the request is coming through a proxy.

What it is

An anonymous proxy is a header-based classification: a test does not expose the real IP, but may reveal an intermediary through a Via header. Transparent and elite are related labels for observed behaviour. They do not establish anonymity against cookies, logins or browser fingerprints.

How it works

Inspect X-Forwarded-For and other headers for the origin address. The connection may use an exit IP while cookies or logins still identify a visitor. A fraud score or proxy-detection decision can use additional signals; omitting one header does not guarantee acceptance.

How it relates to s4m

The s4m public proxy list shows anonymity labels. Use suitable tools to inspect the information received through the actual client and protocol. Paid proxy plans provide authenticated datacenter endpoints; authentication and an anonymity label do not guarantee that a destination cannot identify an account or detect a proxy. An exit-IP check alone is not a request-header audit.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is the difference between anonymous and elite proxies?

These labels usually describe observed HTTP headers. Anonymous may hide the origin IP while revealing an intermediary; elite omits the proxy indicators checked by the test. Neither label guarantees an undetectable proxy or an anonymous browser session.
