Exit Node

An exit node forwards traffic from a VPN, tunnel, proxy or Tor circuit toward a destination, which observes the exit IP. Removing a VPN's outer encryption does not remove end-to-end HTTPS encryption. The exit can observe network metadata and unencrypted application data; it does not automatically learn every HTTPS payload. Location and reputation are separate from personal identity.

Your real origin IP is hidden behind the chain, and only the exit node's address is visible to the destination. That makes the exit node's GeoIP, ASN and reputation the properties that determine your apparent location and how much a site trusts you. The exit node can see the traffic it forwards to the extent it is not otherwise encrypted, which is why end-to-end HTTPS still matters even behind a VPN, and why choosing a trustworthy operator is essential.

s4m has selectable public exit configurations. Use the endpoint or profile issued for the protocol and location selected in your account. GeoIP results vary between databases and over time. Verify the actual exit and required country before use; a location label does not guarantee destination acceptance. A dedicated IP is exclusive during its assignment under the service terms. Prior history, assignment duration, availability and supported bindings still matter. Related topics: VPN, proxies, exit IP, GeoIP, no-logs, RAM-first, dedicated IP.
